Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about applying for a job at Marie Stopes International.

I cannot attach my resume/CV to my application. What should I do?

Our system currently supports the following document types:

  • DOC
  • DOCX
  • RTF
  • PDF

Please check your file type, change it if necessary, and reattach. We recommend that your CV/resume be no longer than 2-3 pages.

Can I submit an application via regular mail or email?

No, we will not be able to accept CVs/resumes sent by post, email, fax, or other means. Applications for vacancies at Marie Stopes International must be submitted online using our careers portal.

This is because we require applicants to complete our screening questions, and by applying online this also ensures that your information is saved in our database.

How will I know if my application and resume/CV were received?

You will receive confirmation by email. In addition to this, you can login to your account using your username (your email address) and the password you set up when registering. Here you will be able to see all the jobs you have applied for with us, and the status of each one.

We endeavour to get back to all applicants within four weeks, however there are occasions when we may take slightly longer due to the international travel some of our hiring managers undertake. If you are having technical difficulties please email our resourcing team.

I would like Marie Stopes International to keep a copy of my resume/CV on file. How can I submit this if I'm not applying for a specific job?

We do not accept speculative CVs or resumes. However, you do have the option to set up job alerts so that you will receive an email as soon as a new role matching your criteria is posted on our website.

How do I edit my application?

Once your application is submitted and you have received a confirmation email, you are unable to edit your application.

Up until submission you can log back into your profile by entering your username (your email address) and password. You can view your application by clicking the 'edit application' link, add additional cover letters, update your CV/resume, or make changes to the application.

If your application is unavailable it is likely that the job has now closed and therefore the deadline for submission has passed.

What happens after I submit my application?

Your application and qualifications will be considered for the open positions you specified. If selected, a member of our resourcing team will contact you directly via email. We endeavour to get back to all applicants within four weeks of initial application.

How do I check the status of my application?

If you log back into your profile you can view the status of your applications. ‘In Progress’ means your application is being reviewed and is awaiting action from the hiring manager.

I'm having technical difficulties submitting an application online, what can I do?

If you encounter any technical difficulties, we suggest you use one of the following web browsers for optimal performance with our system:

  • Google Chrome
  • Safari
  • Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9
  • Firefox 3.6, 4 or 5

If you are continuing to have difficulties, please contact the resourcing team and let us know the details of the problem you are having as well as providing your full name. We will look into the error and come back to you.

I'm interested in working in one of your country programmes as a nurse or doctor, how do I go about applying?

Our country programmes handle most of their recruitment directly. Follow the links below to see all the countries in which we work, and find contact information for each of our programmes.

I am interested in working as a volunteer in your country programmes, how can I register my interest?

Due to the nature of our work and health and safety restrictions, our volunteering opportunities are rare. Please contact our resourcing team, or the country programmes directly for more information.

Do you offer any graduate programmes or internships?

Yes, we recruit graduates through the Charityworks graduate trainee programme. If you would like to learn more, please contact us or visit the Charityworks website for more information.

We are a recruitment agency/job board and we would love to work with Marie Stopes International. How can we be considered?

We currently have a list of preferred suppliers in place and review this annually. To find out what we expect from our suppliers, and how you can be considered, read Information for agencies.
