We are honoured to be taking part in the FIGO World Congress in Rome this week, and will be delivering a series of presentations, panels and an auxiliary event through the week.

On Thursday, we will host a breakfast event focusing on task sharing - a key strategy to overcoming the shortage of trained providers of long-acting and permanent methods of family planning.

The meeting is entitled, "Tubal ligation and long acting methods by mid-level providers; where there is no doctor".

It will be chaired by Dr Laura Laski of UNFPA, with presentations from Dr Ayele Gemechu of Marie Stopes International, Dr Carmela Cordero of EngenderHealth and Dr Yirgu Gebrehiwot from the Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Elsewhere, our Head of Research Thoai Ngo will deliver a research presentation on "Safety and effectiveness of termination services performed by doctors versus midlevel providers: a systematic review".

Demographic Advisor Michelle Weinberger will showcase our innovative Impact 2 tool which measures the impact of family planning programmes.
