Belgium - Brussels Support Office

In Brussels Marie Stopes International (MSI) works with the largest development and humanitarian donor in the world to ensure their policies and funding decisions enable more women to access the reproductive health services.

Activities in Brussels include:

• working with EU officials to create knowledge, understanding and awareness about unsafe abortion and family planning and their impact on development as a whole
• working with European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office (DG ECHO) and humanitarian agencies to ensure funding and prioritization of the reproductive health needs of refugees and internally displaced people
• leading the discussions in Europe on innovative ways to involving the private sector in health systems strengthening, for example through highlighting the successes of social franchising, output based partnership and other key MSI service delivery models
• working in partnerships with other reproductive health in key European Member States, for example Belgium, Sweden and Denmark
• providing the Secretariat for the European Parliament Working Group on Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Development (EPWG). The EPWG represents a cross-section of European Union Member States and the Parliament’s political groups. For further information, go to: www.epwg.eu

MSI is a founder member of the Brussels Ad Hoc Working Group on Violence Against Women in Conflict (VAWIC), providing the EU with expertise on violence against women and girls in conflict .
