It is estimated that the unmet need for family planning will grow by 40% during the next 15 years.
Worldwide there are more than 80 million unintended pregnancies each year and one woman dies every minute from a pregnancy-related causes. More than 200 million women who want to plan their families do not have access to basic family planning services.
In the first six months of 2007, Marie Stopes International protected 6 million couples from unintended pregnancy; a 41% increase on the number of couples reached during the same period the previous year.
