Highlights

  • increased awareness/availability of quality HIV/AIDS information and Voluntary Confidential Testing (VCT) services
  • improved access to quality of maternal and child health services in remote / mountainous areas through training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) and Village Health Workers (VHWs) (80% of care for pregnant women in these areas is provided by TBAs and VHWs. To date, 250 have been trained and referral networks set up

Future plans

  • develop a national social franchise network
  • improve access to quality RH services for VN population through expansion of MSIVN clinical network
  • enhance government capacity for youth-oriented HIV/AIDS VCT services in 5 provinces through technical assistance
  • open 6 new clinics by the end of 2008: 1 in Quang Ninh, 1 in Ha Noi (bringing the total in Ha Noi to 2), 1 in Khanh Hoa, 1 in Da Nang, 1 in Quang Binh, 1 in Lao Cai
