Highlights

  • 1st NGO in China to specifically provide both reproductive health education and services to unmarried young people, both students and migrant workers, via the youth-friendly You&Me brand. You&Me clinics provide confidential, client-focussed care at affordable prices and in a demedicalised environment
  • the Qingdao You&Me Clinic alone has attracted visits from over 3,000 government officials keen to learn how to establish client friendly services and Marie Stopes International China is now supporting the Jiangsu Population & Family Planning Commission to re-focus and re-brand their clinics to be more client-centred. This has been done in 5 pilot clinics so far and will be extended to 400 centres by 2010
  • 1st NGO in China to work directly with PLWHA; activities include capacity-building in self-support group organization, peer education to promote safe sex, and anti-discrimination activities with PLWHA trained as policy advocates and educators

Future plans

  • open 3 new clinics in Dongguan and Zhengzhou
  • support the Guizhou Population & Family Planning Commission to re-focus and re-brand their clinics to be more client-centred in the same way as the Jiangsu Population & Family Planning Commission has been supported
  • implement sexual and reproductive health education programs in schools for children of migrant workers in Beijing
