Highlights
  • largest programme in the Marie Stopes International global partnership – 122 clinics, multiple outreach sites and mobile services covering over a third of the country (23 districts) 
  • 10 clinics have recently received ISO 9001:2000 certification and 3 won the Bangladesh 2006 World Population Day Award for their outstanding performance 
  • new premium clinic opened – this provides a full range of reproductive healthcare including maternity/obstetric services – this clinic will help subsidise services in slums and other low income areas 
  • recently completed the successful Dhara Advocacy Project funded by DFID Civil Society Challenge Fund. This project has helped to empower the poor and vulnerable to use their rights as health consumers

Future plans

  • expand the clinic, outreach and mobile network into12 new districts bringing the number of districts worked in to 35 out of the 64 districts in Bangladesh; a 55% coverage of the country
