Civil society groups

Marie Stopes International works closely with a range of players / stakeholders in every country in which it operates. Civil society is a particularly important stakeholder group for Marie Stopes International and as by working closely with this sector the organisation is able to ensure that the needs of the communities it serves are met and that otherwise marginalised groups are empowered to advocate for their rights.

For example, in Pakistan, Marie Stopes Society is working to improve the capacity of civil society organisations to implement advocacy initiatives promoting sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). By working with male and female youth and community groups, Marie Stopes Society has been able to raise awareness of SRHR as well as a commitment to these rights by other community organisations and of district, provincial and federal decision makers.
