HIV / STIs

At the end of 2006, 39.5 million people worldwide were living with HIV; 4.3 million people were newly infected and 2.9 million had died of AIDS that year alone.

The global fight against HIV now attracts several billion dollars a year in support from different donors - including the UK Government and the European Commission - much of which is channelled through the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. It is imperative that this money is spent as efficiently as possible, not least because it is still inadequate.
